I am the entertainer
Sep. 18th, 2004 11:41 pmThis gratuitous Billy Joel quote is brought to you by late night preparations for the talk like a pirate tea. It looks like a bunch of people will be able to come over which is always a happy thing. Right now I am frittering away time while some veggies drain in the kitchen so I can start putting together the snacks. I decided to try an experiment with chai making and start steeping the spices in the milk now so that the flavor will sink in overnight. We'll see if this produces a better flavored drink or not.
First Heidegger class was excellent. The people in the class are great. Of course keeping ones attention at full in the morning after having been kept up by nasty heartburn is no small task, but I managed. It's good that we only meet once a month because, aside from the inconvenient time, it's an awfully intense place to be more often than that. I hung around after class and spoke with some people. I suspect we will end up doing post-class lunches most months which is fine. These are things I don't get to discuss very often. Saxifrage is pretty much the only person besides Eric who doesn't look at me a little funny for getting up early on a saturday to read philosopy.
After class I came home and had a nice long nap, making up for the night before. By the time I woke up it was after 3 and time to prepare for potluck. It was a cheesy night, figuratively and literally. I made baked ziti because I was feeling lazy. It turned out to be one of two pasta bakes at potluck. Oh well. That's why it is a potluck right :)
Now I should go assemble these hors d'oeuvres thingies for tomorrow. yum.
