Today marks the release of S.J. Tucker/[livejournal.com profile] s00j's new album "Mischief." I have owned it for about 5 hours. I'm listening to it for the third time. You need this album. You don't know it yet but you do.

I greatly enjoy [livejournal.com profile] s00j's music and have for several years so take it seriously when I say this is by leaps and bounds the best thing she has produced. All the great songs from the various solo albums and the Tricky Pixie record were just a warmup.

Listen to it with headphones on so you don't miss a single amazing detail.

I went for a massage today. As many of you know I am somewhat of a connaisseur of massages. I get them a few times a year and I'm very excited whenever I have one scheduled. Generally I've had good experiences. Today I did not. DO NOT GO TO MAXIMUM IMAGE SPA IN WOBURN. Problem 1 - massage therapist wore rubber gloves. In 7 years I've never had a therapist wear gloves. They always use copious hand sanitizer. This made for an unpleasant sensation while rubbing and also means there's no way she could have felt for tense spots or dug in to any of the muscle the way every other massage therapist I've worked with has done. Problem 2 - the room was tiny. Not even a room, a cubicle. The space on the CRUISE SHIP I was on in 2004 was bigger. Problem 3 - the woman did not seem to know how to massage. Instead she just sort of rubbed haphazardly for an hour. Problem 4 - the receptionist was super rude. Problem 5 - the massage lotion was thick like vaseline, smelled terrible, and I'm having trouble getting it to wash off my skin. Problem 6 - it was far too warm in the room given that its a 90 degree day.

If you want a massage I recommend the following places:

Balance Spa in Tewksbury - My fave, I love this place. On the way home from work, nicest people, gorgeous facility, really good therapists and they serve you tea and cookies.

Elements Spa in Andover -they have other locations too. The massage therapist I had there gave me 10 extra minutes just cause she felt bad for my poor neck.
Inman Oasis in Inman Square, Cambridge - You can hot tub first, you can hot tub after! They do 15 minute chair massages too. The place is a little cramped because of the location but they use the space well and its generally peaceful feeling.
