We will all go down together...

I feel us on the verge of war. I see my memories slowly crumbling as every place I believed safe is threatened.
Cyert hall on CMU campus, where Shimmeringjemmy and I used to sit on boring nights playing with the roomerang ... bomb threat.
The skyline I have looked at for 24 years has changed. One of the marvels of the modern world destroyed and with it countless lives.
The Pentagon. I remember being on the metro with Malkie a few years ago as we passed under the Pentagon. Malkie made some joke about yog sothoth being hidden in there.
Walking from class to work today nothing seemed real. I was going down the same stretch of Mass. Ave that I have walked several times a week since moving here, but I felt as though I were in a haze. I couldn't bear to see all these people doing normal things, cars moving and busses running and people laughing as I passed them. I noted when I stepped outside that it was a beautiful day otherwise. I started crying on the street as I walked. The peace I have cherished since childhood is all but gone.
Our generation DID take peacetime for granted. We did take our safety for granted. We did allow ourselves to feel invincible. We did allow ourselves to become complacent, to believe that an idiot for president was a mere inconvenience. This is the price we will pay.
Somehow, as much as I want to, I don't see myself going to London any time soon.
