Today I received the last recommendation latter I needed to complete my internship applications. This one came from one of my professors from last semester. I opened it up and read it. (nice thing about this sort of recommendation letter is that we are actually allowed to read them unlike with my grad school applications where they had to be in sealed envelopes signed by the author of the letter) I expected the standard "I recommend this student for internship, she did well in my class blah blah..."

This was an actual sincere letter. You can tell she is talking about me and not some other random student. It is also the most complete glowing endorsement I've ever recevied.

I wish I could just be satisfied with being good at my work and leave it at that. The rest of life is just a distraction from the one thing I seem to do well.
